Scout-A-Rama: Success!

21-23 MAY--The largest contingent of Boy Scouts ever in our area celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Scouting America with an old-fashioned Scout-A-Rama.

Over 1700 Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Venturing Crews attended the event at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds.  Stations were set up which included striking a match with a hatchet, signalling towers, Leave No Trace demonstrations, BB shooting, a French and Indian War camp, pie throwing, boat races and more.

Well over 1200 Scouts and Scouters (adult leaders) camped on the fairgrounds during the event.  In addition to their own cooking creations, Domino's pizza, Shaffer's Barbecue and the Fort Valley Ruritan were open to provide food to the Scouts and hundreds of visitors.
