Scouting.org has posted a full copy of the Scouting for Youth with Disabilities Manual online (2007 version).
It is 162 pages long (over 8MB), so it might take a minute to download.
Some of the key areas covered:
- How to organize at the council level
- Adult leadership support
- Details on the Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting and Venturing programs
- Understanding Categories of Disabilities
- Physical Disabilities
- Emotional/Behavioral/Social Impairments
- Autism
- ADD/ADHD
- Hearing and Speech disorders
- Visual impairments
- Developmental Disabilities
- Appendices with best practices, forms and additional resources
- ...and a lot more.
The "Significant Dates" section on page 9 shows the long history that Scouting has in helping the disabled to participate fully in Scouting.
This is a great reference for any Scouter to have available.
